Storytelling Through
Art and Design:
Visualising Racial and
Social Justice

Using Creativity to Drive Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice in the Arts.

A Knowledge Exchange Initiative Exploring Equity Through Creative Practice

This was the provocation at the heart of Storytelling Through Art and Design, a Knowledge Exchange (KE) initiative inviting LCC students and recent graduates (Classes of 2023 & 2024) to share creative responses that visualise social and racial justice.

The open call served as a platform for practice-based knowledge sharing, where illustration, photography, installations, and digital media became tools for expressing lived experience, cultural insight, and critical reflection. The selected works, bold, intimate, and thought-provoking, offered a creative lens into how justice, identity, and belonging are interpreted by emerging artists and designers.

These contributions were publicly exhibited on digital screens across the LCC Information Centre throughout summer 2025, fostering cross-community dialogue and wider engagement with themes of equity and representation.

Developed in collaboration with the LCC Information Centre and the Changemakers Programme, this event was more than an exhibition; it was a collective act of creative resistance, community-building, and transformative learning.

2. A group of people gathers around a large table covered with assorted colorful fabrics, scissors, paper, and workshop materials. Some participants are focused on creating or cutting fabric pieces, while others observe or work in the background. The scene takes place in a well-lit, modern room with plants, posters on the wall, and various supplies spread out for a collaborative art or craft activity.
